Re: Are these guys good or what???

what kind of speakers are we talking about here? If they are just door speakers, save your money. If you can't install the headunit by yourself have them do it, but installing speakers is something that is too easy to have to pay someone to do it.

Re: Are these guys good or what???

Really it is all pretty simple. You should do it yourself it will be much cheaper. as far as buying, buy from ebay. best buy wanted to charge me $130 per sub, and $300 for the amp. I checked ebay, and got 2 of the same subs for $130, and the same amp for $120. BRAND NEW still factory wrapped. There are alot of wholesale stores and they have good deals.

Installing a Head Unit is not hard at all.

Just match the wires pretty much.

Ive heard Best Buy is a rip off.

But then again if you are dead sure that you cant manage to do it yourself, then go ahead and pay the money. That would be better than frying something.

I have stopped going to best buy in my area. They dont know what the heck they are doing. They really dont offer anything that good anyway. They sell junk. I would buy it somewhere else and have it installed by them if you are unsure. This way you have a waranty.

In My area, nj, the installation is included. But probably 9 out of 10 people don't know what they are doing. Then if one guy starts the job, and they change shifts someone else is finishing it. When I had remote start installed on my XTerra, they didn't do such a good job. Tried to charge me for tubing to protect the wires. They said the wire would just be laying over the engine unless you get this....

I got the tubing for free anyway, but he acted like he was doing me a favor. :/

Anyway, prolly be best to do it yourself, or do it with someone that has experience.

Much better that way.

Krs

Re: Are these guys good or what???

when i was going to get my stereo changed over from my accord to my del sol, it added up to around $450 for the labor. that was to move my head unit, 2 amps and a sub, along with install 4 new speakers.

i just enlisted the help of 2 of my friends and we had it all done in one day, with none of us having done anything like it before hand. it was a lot of work, but definitely worth saving the $450, plus i knew how the whole thing worked and could fix any problem with it down the line. i say do it yourself, or get a head unit on sale that has install included.

Negative, you do line up the wires, but with a 96-98 Honda Civic with the Keyless Entry System, you have to buy a new wiring harness to hook up the aftermarket receiver to the stock radio or you wont have the feature of Keyless Entry anymore. I would do it myself once I get my Alpine H/U but I'm not quite sure on how to place the stock radio in the dash, so I'd rather have Circuit City do it if it was free.

Yes you are correct about the other stuff you stated but the big chains won't do this for free. Their free installs are only for the normal 15min jobs not for this stuff. They'll soak you for about another $100 for this to be done.

Hmm, in that case, I might as well buy the H/U from GoPCPlus.com, buy the wiring harness from there too, save some money, and then attempt to install it myself. If anyone could pm/email me with pictures on the installation process, I would greatly appreciate it (I don't have an exact location of where the stock radio is supposed to fit in).
