Re: Chevelle owners

im just curiouse. why do you want to know? but anyway...

68 chevelle
a grand
private party (it was listed on the recycler)
in the process of resorting
totaly not stock

interior
the interior was totaly shot. i have sence replaced that carpet, dash pad, arm rests and bases, and repainted that dash. it now has a auto meter speedo, full set of guages... water temp, volts, oil pressure, and trans temp.the rear seet has been redone in black. i have some front bucket seets that are temporary until i get what i want. i removed all the column shift likage and it now has a B&M pro ratchet shifter. no door panels, head liner, package tray, or interior trip pieces. the windsheild has been replaced with one from the '71 montecarlo we had for parts.

drive line/engine
it came with a straight 6 and powerglide trans. that has been replaced with a 350 350 combination. soon to be a 2004R trans though. still has the stock open 10 bolt with 3.08's. my engine is a 60 over 350 with midly ported and polished heads, 76cc chanbers 2.02 1.60 valves. running 10:1 (with 64cc though) flat top pistons. new timing chain bearings all that small stuff. my cam is a comp extrame energy 262. stock stamped steal rockers, (for another week or so). comp hydralic flat taped lifters. edelbrock performer intake. quadrajet carb, tuned by me, and a HEI. stock crank thats turned 20 20, and referbished stock rods. and i also switched over to a long waterpump and swaped everything over to the 69 and later style accesorie, (just swaping the alternador over to the other side and changing pullys and stuff). i think thats all.

other
i took the intire front end off and repainted the engine compartment black. started some of the body work on the drivers side. passengers fender needs replacing. it has a new deck lid. i have replaced the rear springs out of a different car. stiffer and makes it sit better now. the front sway bar has been replaced with a 1 1/8 along with poly bushings. i have replaced the tiny stock radiator with a big 4 core.

future plans
the 2004R trans. new rearend. finish the interior. new engine and posibly twin turboed if i even get enough money. get the body work finished and get it painted a dark blue or some sorts. i know theres more but i cant think of it right now.

72 SS 454
$ 1,500.00
Co worker
Still restoring it. There is always something to do or something new I want.
On the body the only original panel is the roof. The rest are new.
The interior. Completely replaced it. That was over time as things wore out. I just bought new carpet for it a little while back and a new grille because the original had a crack.
A total rebuild of the engine was done recently and I also increased the hp to approx. 500.
Transmission has been rebuilt recently for the first time and a shift kit added.

Sounds like a beauty 70LS. Got any pictures of it? Sorry about your Dad. I hope to someday help my son build his dream machine or pass mine on to him.

Sorry to hear about your dad,
That car should be parked in a garage with a chain link fence around it
and taken to car shows on a big trailer, I have heard of people who put them on display at car museums (free indoor climate controlled storage) just make sure an attorney looks at the contract so your ride can’t be tied up in any litigation.
It can never be replaced if some moron runs a light and t bones it.
Time to build a street toy that you can have fun with and keep that beauty same and sound.

Re: Chevelle owners

I traded 2 computers to my cousin for my 66 chevelle malibu in 1994. At that time they were probably worth about 800.00 for the pair. The car is bone stock and needs a major restoration, thus my delima, to stay stock or go wild? (see my thread) your opinions are welcome guys.
