Cool Whos got some bolt on goodies for sale?

Just got a 300 tt and it needs an engine......I am going to put a JDM in it. But while its out what would be some good things to bolt on it before placing it back in the car? Bigger Turbos?........What else would need to be done?......Thanks again for the help and advice.

E. Honda......

Well, that depends entirely on what you want out of this car, which is restricted by how much money you have. There is basically two paths:

Stock turbos:
-much cheaper of the two
-they'll still boost to 17 or 18 PSI though 15 is more practical and are small so they spool quick
-Probably don't need to build engine with forged parts if going this route and keeping that boost gauge down most of the time (no lead foot crap) and never over 15 PSI (and keep in mind, thats still alot of power)
-stock is always easiest when you're trying to get everything to work, and remember that because the VG30DETT is easily one of the most complicated mass produced engines ever, you see all the hoses on top? there is X10 more underneath and all impossible to get to (doing it yourself: very hard and no gaurentee it will work, at a shop: hugely expensive labor bill, both x2 for aftermarket turbos)
-Parts to install: lightened flywheel, ECU, Boost jets (or controller), single cone intake (twin don't even begin to help until upwards of 500HP), stiff ass clutch, test pipes in place of precats, full exhaust

All this probably net you upwards of 400 rwhp and most of this stuff you can do yourself as these are mostly bolt ons. The only thing on that list you have to do while the engine is out is the test pipes, as they are unreachable while the engine is in. That lets you take things as money comes. Total cost of upgrades 3-5K ball park
And before you dismiss this out of hand, remember that 15 PSI and 400RWHP is alot of power

And to the part you want to hear...

Aftermarket turbos:
-much more expensive but needed for the next big step in power, and you will get that
-something everyone wants to do and now you can brag about doing it
-the engine is out anyway and it is a pain in the ass to pull the thing
-oversized turbos in themselves are fairly straight-bolt-on parts but to run this much harder alot of little stuff should be upgraded: oil pump, radiator, belts/hoses etc
-Parts to install: lightened flywheel w/blanket, bigger injectors+fuel pump, ECU for new injectors, Boost jets (or controller), twin cone intake (costs more, needs more mods to run but needed for the upgrade), 4-6 puck race clutch, test pipes in place of precats, full exhaust, polished heads/intake/exhuast manifolds, bigger intercoolers, double core radiator, the new turbos of course and their mounting hard ware, upgrade the recirculating valves or new BOVs (BOVs=not cool IMO), forged pistons/connecting rods/crank, engine balancing so all these new forged parts play nice, and an aquamist system if you know what is good for your VG and probably alot of stuff I'm forgetting. Some is optional but most is required. Get it dyno tuned afterward for best performance.

Probably get you: well depending on how much you changed and how much it was changed, 400-750 rwhp. This is hugely expensive (as in 15-25K expensive depending on insanity level) and time consuming but if you just got to have that maxed out Z...its what you have to do.

And its not like it is either one or the other, you can find a happy middle ground probably but once you do run anything past the stock turbos you start a domino effect of upgrades. Me, I'm going the first route as I don't have the money or really even the desire needed to go the second. You really got to want it because unless you got a trust fund it will take up every penny you got. [Blasphemy]And don't forget that you may want to spend money else where, like investing in a nice mutual fund[/Blasphemy] So really think about what you are going to use this car for, definately not a daily driver no matter what you choose (get a nice 240sx for that, its a perfect, fun daily driver), and how much you are willing to part with because you will never see the money again even if you sell it in great condition ("10K car with 15K in mods for 15K OBO" type thing). And do alot of research on parts and services before deciding anything.

Good luck man and have fun with it, don't let the project turn the car into something you hate to look at.
