take and stick a screw driver between the gears in the middle and take a big breaker bar and bust them loose!... yes they are regular thread, so when you do the one closest to you put the screw driver in between and under them... when you do the far back one put the screw driver in between and on top of the gears so it wont allow them to move!

Re: Stupid Cam Gear Bolts

Its possible to break the cam sensor on 95-96 cars though. So if one would rather not do it that way, simply remove the valve cover (probably off anyway) and put a wrench on the cam. There is a "nut" cast into the cam for this very purpose. I believe on my HKS cams its 22 mm, stock may be larger. And adjustable works fine. Its not uncommon to need two people to do this. Put the stronger guy on the cam wrench, you dont want it turning and damaging anything.

Re: Stupid Cam Gear Bolts

I would be nervous about nicking the teeth, which would in turn nick the belt. Now that you mention this, the dealerships use a tool that is shaped just right to fit in between the cam gears, I believe it intended purpose is to hold the gears in alignment when you to a tbelt job. But I assume it would do an equally sufficient job of holding the gears while you crack the bolts loose. I may have to borrow one from my brother and try it.
