a dead Javelin
I came across a Javelin that has been sitting in a field for many years. I can't tell if the bottoms of the doors and quarters are rusted out but I know portions of the roof is swiss-cheesed. If I recall, it does have a 401/4-barrel.
Would this be a car worth getting and eventually fixing? I'd say it is in way better shape than the 69 Camaro I bought that sat in a cow pasture for 25years. Even in rough (but complete) shape what would it be worth? Thanks for any input. ---TEX---

Re: a dead Javelin
Sure its a good project. Just find a decent doner car for the shell and transfer the goodies.
Decent 401 engines trade for about $400 US with no cracks or big defects. Realistically, that car is worth a bit more then scrap value but not much. $500 tops. |

Re: a dead Javelin
I thought the value would be more than that because of the rarity. I saw an AMX that was pretty pricey, but that was an AMX and not a Javeline.
Might be more trouble than it is worth. I guess I'm still looking for something to put my Hemi (small block) into. Thanks for the feedback. ---TEX---

Re: a dead Javelin
I am just South of San Antonio. Where are you from?
I planned to drag it home this weekend but w/all the rain we got this last week, I'll have to wait 'till it dries out. There is a 66 Impala there also that I like to get also (for real cheap). My Biscayne needs a grill and the one in the Impala is a perfect match. I agree, AMC finatics are hard to come by. I love the old AMXs that had the red/blue/white paint schemes in the old days of Trans Am. Awesomely cool cars for sure. Mopar/AMC/Chevy? Hell, as long as it runs strong and looks cool, I'm game. I love the rare stuff that you don't see very often. Like this one guy said at a (big) car show. "There's 500 Camaros here, 800 other fords, and countless Dodges. Me and my friend have the only 2 AMCs/AMXs here". Makes you wonder what happened to the rest of them that used to be around. Thanks for all the feedback everyone. ---TEX--- Here's my shop phone #, Silent Chabber, if you have any questions: shop:830-484-2030 cell : 210-710-3529
