do it, I used to have a set of x-tec mufflers in the rear of my 4dr about 2 1/2 years ago....wasn't loud and the power loss was minimal

If I saw that I'd think, "someones overdoing it" Even with a B18, you'll still lose torque

dual exhaust on an inline 4.... you do the math! Don't do it! I hate to use the term, but it conjurs up visions of Uncle Ben, feel me? The definition of a riceboy includes doing things to your car that actually hurt power in trying to make it look good. That logic doesn't make sense. If you do it, then good luck, and be prepared to get clowned. Save the money for the C5, cause you're gonna need a lot for that.

becuase you're not just keeping the engine stock, you're actually making it slower. The Civic has so little torque already, if you do dual exhaust, you're gonna have to floor it just to get off the line. a better way to do it is to just bolt a muffler with no pipe to the other side of the bumper

HAHAHAHAHAHA! This kid emailed me to tell me I'm a dick! He asked for opinions. What a dumbass! Here's his email:
i just want to tell you that you really get to me! ok im not a riceboy i have the money to but the c5 but i just want to gop for more towards the show its just the fact that you dont know shit about me or the fact that i have another car! maybe if we meet we'll race, then i ll show you a fucking riceboy. For one thing, I never called him a riceboy. And for another he's so pissed off his grammar is all fucked up. ATTENTION RICEBOY JIMPORT: Do not get upset over what someone says to you online, when you enter a public forum, expect to meet people that don't share your same point of view! Now I'm calling you a riceboy. Gonna email me and cry about it? Get a life.

I can appreciate the show aspect of it but the problem is when you drive down the street and see that...what's the first thing that pops in the minds of car ppl? "Friggin rice-boy thinks his dual exhuast gives him MAD HORZEPOWER YO!!!" And if you do it, you will be called out by anyone who knows better.

Yea i dont like the fact of dual exhaust either. I think it looks to ricey and i do believe that you lose torque from it. That's funny that that guy was gettin all mad.

It will work just as well as any other exhaust if designed correctly....you do not automatically loose torque just because there are two mufflers
![]() also...the s2000 uses dual exhausts....it's an I4....there are plenty of 4 cylinder engines that use dual exhausts...so blah blah ricey ricey...I personally would never do it just because it's not needed, one muffler will sufice for me

True, the S2k does have a dual exhaust, but as you stated, it had to be designed correctly. And those wonderful engineers at Honda did do just that. Now, on the flipside, those same engineers found it unnecessesary to put a dual exhaust on a Civic, am I right? I'm sure if the dual exhaust did indeed increase hp without affecting emissions, then Honda would have been more then happy to put a dual setup on the Civic. That is my point.

ok ok
ok i understand that it will decrease power i was well aware of that!!!!
now i just want to explain how im going to run it. i amd keeping all stock pipes right until the axle back piece and splitting the pipes there. i will be running stock size piping to the mufflers also so minimal power loss will be happening.( once again im not worried) when i eventually do my swap i will just run single. tell me what ya think!! |

Re: ok ok
If you want to design it halfway decent, run 2.25"-2.5" piping until the split, then run stock piping from there to each of the mufflers. Word of warning...most mufflers have a 2.5 inch entrance to the muffler, some fab and welding will need to talk place.
I always wanted to run dual exhuast but with a twist. JC Whitney has a valved splitters that are controllable with a switch. You run one end to 2.25-2.5 inch piping just like the rest of it to a low-restriction muffler. Then split the other side to stock sized piping and a stock muffler. Then, with a flip of a switch, you can either get lots of power and noise, or less power and total silence.
