Question Air box thingy....lol? L@@K here

Just before my intercooler (stock) there is a box that comes of the piping.
I looked all around it and felt all around it and there is only one opening in it. I have the mitsu shop 2 book manuals and the chiltons and neither show or describe anything inbetween the turbo and intercooler except the piping...
I called mitsubishi but since they weren't going to make any money off of helping me --- they didn't...
The box is black and is about 2" X 5" X 7"tall and is kinda flexible...wouldn't it flex under pressure and cause some boost lag?
I don't wanna just take it out not knowing if it would hurt...

Re: Air box thingy....lol? L@@K here

It's a formed ABS plastic box that sits by the upper right of the IC if you are looking at it from in front of the car..
It goes... turbo-piping--then there is a connector piece inline before the IC and it has a "tube" that goes to this box... There are no wires or other pipes/tubes/lines of any kind going to this box... the hole in the piping from the turbo to the IC is on the top side so I don't see how it could be a intake pressure grease reservior(boostedspy)??? never heard of that...
It's almost directly under the coolant overflow reservoir.. if that helps....
I'll try to get a pic of it tomorrow....

You can take that box off, I took mine off my 95 tsi awd, it does nothing but screw up air flow.
