Question Electrical issues w/my '98 - Help!

Hello fellow Cavalier owners, I need your expertise...

I've got definite electrical or wiring problems with my car. I think it's a grounding issue, as just about every time i get out of my car, I get the worst electric shocks! So here's a breakdown of what's no longer working:

Couple years ago, my interior lights started to flicker when I hit the A/C and a funny buzzing/clicking noise came from the glove box for a few seconds, and then the lights would completely go out. After a month of this, something must have shorted out, because all interior lights (from dome to the trunk) stopped turning on and have never worked since. At the same time, the warning buzzer for leaving lights on also went out and no longer works. I checked the fuses, replaces them, and no luck.

Then, a couple months back, my rear window defogger also stopped functioning. When I replaced that fuse (several tries) it blows as soon as the switch is hit. Hmmm, definitely a short in the system.

After reading some posts on this site, I've discovered my problem could be with a bad installation of my "former" after market stereo (stolen). This stereo was installed before I bought my car used, so no clue as to who might be to blame.

Anyways.... I would like to fix this myself if i can, but I need to know what to look for, and where to look, whether it's messed up grounding wires or wires with the stereo???

Thanks!!

jen
