Arrow BOOST my confidence

OK, The Turbo will be replaced in a few nights and Im ready to do more.

First - I want to get a Manual Boost Controller ( probrably Jope p or apexi') but Im worrying about what has to be done to the ECU to be able to boost higher?

Friends have said something connects to it or that you gotta get a computer chip to change the ECU so it will work right.
WHAT IS THE TRUTH?
I don't wanna F' up anything, so Im asking before I do anything stupid.

Also- Im wondering what mod I should do next - I have the stock turbo replaced, BOV, downpipe w/ exhaust. (105,000 on car)(gsx).

SHould I go with Fuel mods (fuel rail, pump, injectors etc)? Spark plugs? or Should I get a FMIC (If u recommend this, how much more power will it give me[Im still rockin the stock turbo, just newer].?

Thanks - I really need the advice... Add your 2 cents - good or bad...

Also, What is the best/trustworthy company to go with (MBC)? Im only looking to get up to 16 PSI right now. Nothing crazy, but I dont want a cheapy one that'll give me boost creep.

Yeah I don't think boosting higher will help you with a stock turbo. So I'd probably upgrade that first with the MBC.

Re: BOOST my confidence

Maybe UICP next? Your next upgrade is a real turbo. Fuel pump, injectors, regulator, afc, electronics, plugs, wires or FMIC won't make your turbo any better.

Re: BOOST my confidence

before the mbc you will need an actual boost gauge to tell what the hell ya doin, otherwise could cause some damage

Re: BOOST my confidence

What fuel are you going to manage? Turbos aren't 7 bolt specific, so you won't be wasting it. There are no mods you can do to be faster on the stock turbo except MBC, intake, and exhaust.

Exclamation

OK, Let me change things around -

HERE is my complete mod list on the 97 gsx.

Apexi' N1 Downpipe
Apexi' N1 exhaust w/ 3" pipe
HKS Turbo Timer Type 1
Air/Fuel gauge
Turbo Boost Gauge
Greddy UICP w/ Type S BOV
full cold air Injen Intake
Newer Garret T25 Turbo (polished)
(not engine) - 18x8 rims.

On The Way (already ordered)

Fuel managment kit (550 Lucas injectors, Walbro (cant remember excact brand) 190 liter/hour Fuel pump, apexi S-AFC II.
-------------------------------------------------
The question is - What MBC is the best brand, and what needs to be done to the ECU when I install it.

Also - When Im done with that, what is the next step (besides bigger turbo) should I do to the engine.

sorry 4 the confusion -

Re: BOOST my confidence

i believe a bigger turbo with a FMIC after that will give you some significant boost of confidence.

Re: BOOST my confidence

You are at the limits of the T25.

You don't need to touch the ECU to raise boost, which you shouldn't do on the T25 if you are already running 16lbs.

Almost all MBCs are the same in terms of how they work, so go with a proven one like JoeP, or Hallman.
