Question 2000 Firebird Question

My service engine soon light will not go off and there doesn't seem to be any problems. We think that it came on because we didn't have the gas cap on tight enough but we have filled up a couple of times since then and it is still on. Has this happened to anyone else?

it has happened to me many a times. It doesn't necessarily mean that there is a problem. My light came on not to long ago and all i had to do was take it to a car place and have them reset it. You are supposed to check engine, oil, etc. every soo many days. But it doesn't go by what condition the car is in, it is programmed on a time limit. Just take it in to Midas or something and have them reset the light. I know, that little light gets annnoying.

or if youve checked everything out and your car seems fine, just disconnect the positive battery cable, wait for a few seconds, and put it back on. this will reset the engine light as well

Re: 2000 Firebird Question

Thanks for all your help! I really appreciate all the posts. We'll try disconnecting the cable first and see what happens.

I am loving the car!
