swap???

Hey,
so i got a 1992 escort gt and i wanna put in a v-6 engine. is there a v-6 engine that will directly fit into my car, or atleast an engine that will mount to my stock transmission?? I wanna be able to get the car from a salvage yard, and i heard that the mazda protage is like the same car so would an engine from a protege work. Any insites or suggestions will be appreciated.

Re: swap???

no there not the smae care but there are similarities. but no I dont beleive the engine will work and besides its a four banger too. but this website deals with everything mazda and mazda based fords, which the gts are. and they have two engines, the gtx which it the same motor that is in there, the 1.8 dohc, but in japan there more powerful, these are the j-spec engines that will almost direct fit into the car, one will give you 180 hp for $1150, thats the gtx, and then the gtr which has 210 hp, and cost $1875. but heres the site and you can see for yourself, its just under j-spec engines www.corksport.com

so i went and looked at those engines, and arent they the same as what i have in my car, except with a turbo. Wouldnt it be cheaper for me to just buy a turbo for my car??

Re: swap???

The older 2.2 Turbo Probe GT's and Turbo Mx6's are not compatible with what you have. You need to look at the mid to late 90's to find the V6 you want.

The 90's Mazda Protege is a second gen Escort GT. Just 2 door's instead of 4.
