Unhappy 2002 Xterra headlight auto shut off?

Is there a way to make the headlight auto shut off after shutting off the engine?

The chime isn't sufficient to let you know you left them on after removing the key?

Apologies if you have other reasons, but this is the kind of crap they're building into vehicles because lazy dumb people ask for them... Prices could go down, or we could get more practical improvements, but no, people want power-folding rear seats, auto-retracting side steps, parking sensors, and other useless crap...

/end rant

Buy an alarm that will do it for you. There is no feature like that with a stock Nissan.

Thanks Schludwiller.

All the cheap import used cars that I've own, the headlight shuts off as soon as the ignition is turned off.

So I'm rather surprised with a over $30,000 cdn suv didn't have the headlight auto shut off feature. I guess this is simply because its built in the U.S.?

Some people like it one way, some like it the other. Personally I like having the option to have the lights on.

I don't know if this was a passing question, or something you're really pursuing, but we have an electrical guru by the handle "coolerman" who makes a lot of custom wiring solutions for the Xterra. Do a search for "coolerman cibs" on the internet and you'll find him. I'm sure he could wire up what you want.

Thanks for the info.

That's ok, I won't bother with it as it's still under warranty. I just can't believe such feature is not included in a SE model, very stupid!

Don't forget the monitor on the dash that shows what's behind you when your backing up, god forbid that you would actually have to turn your head and look behind you while backing up. nuff said
