2002 Quadrasteer won't start.

Need help please. This is a 2002 Silverado Quadrasteer that fell thru the ice. Still in great shape, radio works, windows work, seats work, only problem is that I have no dash lights and the engine starts but fails to run. Changed gas, oil, plugs, blew out everything. Engine runs and stays runing if I inject gas into the pcv hose. As soon as I stop, so does the motor. No codes. I have a young kid working on this truck as a part time job to keep him out of trouble (he's seen his share) He does not know it, but when he's done, I'm going to give it to him. At this point were both lost.

Re: 2002 Quadrasteer won't start.

truck turns over but will not start, or starts and then dies ? if it run when you put gas in it then you should check the fuel filter to see if it is clogged, fuel pressure to see if the pump is comming on and delivering good pessure and see if you are getting an injector pulse

Fuel pressure is 60psi. New filter. Repalced the BCM and ECM with used boxes yesterday. Used ECM may have been bad, no starting at all. Put the old ECM back in (at least it started but did not run the motor) Still no dash lights, trying a new cluster today. Not sure how to check the injector pulse. If the engine starts on the eight injectors it has - then they must be working - at least in the starting mode. Or - does this engine have a single cold start injector like some motors? Maybe it's starting on a cold start injector and the main injectors are stuck. Remember, the fuel rails were full of water for two months, can injectors rust shut? If so, why would it start and then die? Found a multi pin high tech control box behind the headlight switch. Steel box, very hard to remove. Not sure what it does. I don't think it's part of OnStar. Not repairing any OnStar stuff.
Thanks for the reply.

That has got to suck...thats why I stay on paved roads...

Did you get a fuel sample? Might be full of water.
Also, the PCM and BCM will have to be programmed to your specific vehicle

Re: 2002 Quadrasteer won't start.

I now have replaced the guage cluster, ECM,BCM,TCM and light switch. Everything is working, all plug-in's are dry. Fuel is good and the pressure is 60. No change.
The motor still starts, runs for a second or two, and then dies. I tried turning on the starter and then leaving it in "on" for ten minutes ( found this on a post) then doing it again for a total of three times. No luck. Any help would be great.
Thanks.

OK if you have replaced the PCM and BCM, they will have to be programmed to your specific vehicle.
After that, the theftlock will have to be programmed

Re: 2002 Quadrasteer won't start.

You mentioned accouple times that your fuel pressure is 60psi.

My question is, do you have fuel prssure when the engine die's. If so your fuel system is probably OK, If not then maybe a problem with the fuel pump relay or the signal going to it.
The PCM (power control module) controls the fuel pump relay signal, and it's looking at differant sensors i.e crank sensor, cam sensor, oil pressure ect. If a signal drops the PCM opens the fuel pump relay circuit. This means a loss of fuel pressure, and a dead engine.

Re: 2002 Quadrasteer won't start.

IT LIVES!
I was thinking about the posting where a guy said that if I cycle the key from "on" to "start" and then back to "on", wait ten minutes and then do it two more times, everything would work. His problem was the same as mine - engine would start and then die. I tried it many times, no go. Then I tried just going to "on", wait ten minutes, go to "off" and then back to "on". I did this three times for a total of thirty minutes and the engine started - and stayed running! Bringing a truck (4x4 Quadrasteer) back to life after it spent three days under water has been a chalange, but lot's of fun. I would be glad to give anyone tips who may be in the same mess. I've learned alot so far. Thanks to all who helped.
Jim.

Re: 2002 Quadrasteer won't start.

Next problem has to do with the heated controls. They are stuck it the defrost mode. Remember this rig was in 5 feet of lake water for three days.
Any ideas?

Re: 2002 Quadrasteer won't start.

Ice fishing in January in Wisconsin. The ice was thin with no snow cover and the water only five feet deep. The sun was warming the bottom and the ice was melting from below. I know the guy who was driving. The ice broke and the front end started going down. The two of them opened the windows, shut off the engine and went out the windows (doors would not open) The truck then sunk in the rear and went down and sat flat on the bottom till only six inches of the roof was showing. You don't just pull them out. It took three and a half days to plan it out. They cut an opening 150' long and towed it to thick ice where a wrecker could lift the back end and pull it up. It then went to warm storage and was drained. The truck was totaled. The window sticker said $41,000.00 I bought it for $9000.00. I have invested less than $2000.00 and it's almost ready to go. Starting the engine and pulling the leather seat covers off to dry the inner foam was the most work. Most everything else works. It's been a fun project.I'm going to give it to a young guy who's doing most of the work. He still does not know I'm giving it to him. First time he gets in trouble, I get it back.
