Re: does it work
I used to hang around the mustang crowd and they told me to get a chip for my SHO, they said it boosted their power levels and also eliminated the factory cut off of fuel at 150mph. I never got one as I blew my engine shortly after that, but get one from a reputable company as superchips, tons of tuners in GA highly recomended them.
There is also one company that make chips for Z32s', these are special cuz they insert a chip bracket into you ECU and they mount in a chip on to the bracket, so any time you upgrade your car, you just pull the chip out by itself instead of having it remove and then burnt in a new one, they recalibrate it or send in a new one and you just put it on. Doesn't require any soldering. I don't know if they will do it for other cars, they specialize in Z32s'.

Re: does it work
if its an actual chip, it might be real, but if its something like a transistor that you just snap in, its definetly a ripoff, you could go to radio shaq and buy one for 20 cents.

Re: does it work
No Zdude it's not a transistor, I am talking of the actual control Microchip that is soldered on the circuit board in the ECU box (the metall box on the passenger side with all the wires running into it). Seen how all the little legs are soldered to the green board, they have a small rectangular bracket that has holes to accomodate each leg, so when removing and installing all you have to do is open the ECU box, pry gently on the chip remove it and pop the new one in. There are a bunch of chips and they look similar so you the first time you have to send the ECU box in and they will have to install the bracket so that next time you know otherwise, you pull out the wrong chip and you've just fried you ECU, and if you ain't an electrician you will break it upon removal, this saves you the trouble of buy a new ECU and is the next best thing to a stand alon management system, you can actuall re-program the chip as much as you want, just send in your list of mods and they update it.
Superchips makes good chips from the rep I've heard as for the other company, I'll have to look through my notes, I think I wrote it down somewhere. I ain't that dumb.

Re: does it work
ive seen some sort of "ecu mod" that is a resistor or transistor or capacitor or something like that. it supposedly gives you more horsepower and better gas mileage and stuff but all it does is confuse the ecu into giving more air and gas to the engine, so your really getting worse gas mileage. the shitty thing about them is that you pay 20 bux for it plus shipping, when you could just go to radio shaq and pay 20 cents. my last post wasnt real discriptive, but i figured everyone had seen those "ecu mods" before. and when i was typing my last post, you posted yours, so i hadnt read it yet, mine was based completely off of 240sxaddicts first post.

Re: does it work
Not so sure of that company, I was refered to by racers and No limit motor sports which is home to milenium mustangs here in ATL. There weren't too many mods for the SHO so they told me one of the best companies to get a chip from was superchips, and they had one for the SHO. But knowledge is power, search, ask dave coleman from sport compact, he knows alot of shit.
And I wouldn't advise that for anyone, they may be 20cents, but they may not work as well or cause more problems. Remember, cars run on DC current and Home apliances run on AC current, (or is it vice versa?), Just know there could be some serious consequences in using something not made for the Automobile, trust me on that one, seen it happed many times.

Re: does it work
told ya they had em
and yes, homes are AC and cars and basically anything else is DC. most of the time you dont use resisters and stuff on homes, they are almost always used on DC. i spose the resisters could work even if you go buy yourself one at radio shaq. now that someone found a picture of the "performance mod" all you have to do is look at the color bands on the resister and match em up with the ones on the radio shaq resister, and waalaa, youve got your "performance mod" for 20 cents. i still havent figured out how they work yet so i wouldnt recommend them to ANYONE.

Re: does it work
Honestly, do you think you can pay twenty dollars and gain twenty horsepower just like that when jwt ecus and other aftermarket ecu upgrades are all over 300 dollars? common sense.
