vr6 automatic supercharger
I own a 2000 jetta glx vr6. I was throwing around the idea of adding a supercharger, but i am weary about my automatic tranny. Does anybody know if it can handle that sort of power?

Re: vr6 automatic supercharger
Oh yeah.... I believe HPA's twin turboed R32 golf has the original transmission (which is I also believe is a reg. golf's transmission) and it's got like 400 HP on it. I was thinking about putting a supercharger myself and I plan to get the clutch upgraded.

R32s come only 6 speed stick-shift, not your regular Golf tranny.
depending on the performance modifications you wanna make to your cars (turbos, intercoolers, superchargers, exhausts, cams, valves, cranks, pistons, heads, ECU chips, pulleys, ignition, sparks, ingnition wires, injectors, quaifes, differentials, axles, suspension - wuteva, really!), on 1994 jettas, it was indicated to swap the automatic transmission with a Corrado G60's manual transmission, which can handle alot more torque. Even the suspension, when more factors are taken into account, such as asphalt temp, tire adherence, (air humidity and fuel mixture in extreme cases) can and will affect how much stress is tossed at your transmission. You can get a custom-built automatic tranny for your GLX. i personally would, if automatic is that important for you and considering the jetta, audi and others' automatic stock trannies simply suck. they down-shift long after it was important for them to perform such process, plus: VW never meant for the stock automatic tranny to handle more power than it was designed for, which in turn will make you invest in repairs. a new automatic is expensive, i dont know about custom-builts. be wise, luxury = automatic performance/sports = manual Good luck |
