Exclamation Lug nut cross threaded...

The last person that changed the wheels on my car ended up cross threading the lug nuts... anyone know what can be done about this?

Re: Lug nut cross threaded...

Got them off yet? or have you found out before you removed them? Sometimes the nuts are softer than the rods. And you'll need new nuts but the rods will be fine. Buuut if they're stuck on a rattle gun can help, also give em a few slightly firm blows on top with a hammer.

if you have it off, i dont think it is to hard to replace the rod if that is what is crossthreaded

yeah..if they're off...maybe get a die and try to clean the threads up... otherwise, replace the stud
