Talking [FINISHED] Spoon Civic Type-R (EK9) !!56K's!!

hi guys.... this is my spoon civic typer that im currently building. takes quite a while, just over 1 month until now, n still not finished. im takin my time. hehhe. comments are welcome....
here are the pics:

Fujimi #18642 - Spoon Sports Civic TypeR

::Just painted... polished?? cant remember. but this is the best ever paint job ive ever done in my life...!!!!

::Half way through. got CF decal (thx to Modelcrafts & Hobbies of Wellington), painted window surround, hood and grille surround. Wheels are boxstock with gunmetal tamiya spray. like that black headlamp housing...

::Rear view mock up (using blue-tack to stick the tail light and license plate also the exhaust pipe). luv that exhaust... my 1st ever hand made!! thx for this forum n those who helps me.

::Another lower rear quarter view.

::View of the front wheel and rear wheel. gunmetal with metallic blue lug nuts. ouw yea.... its black-washed aswell... but hardly seen.

::Clear coating time..!!! this one's after 3 layers of brief coats of clear coat (not the thick coat yet). im at this stage at the moment, waiting for some good mood and good weather to do it. maybe this weekend, but doubt it... weather's so crap. its in my garage, so its pretty humid when raining out side.

::Close up of the front quarter, featuring CF hood, red 'H' badge and wire mesh grille.

::Interior. S2000 v-type (tamiya #24245) steering wheel. red recaros, and floor area are flocked (red). puttying the rear side of the seats using modelling clay!! such a pain to do it with that thing. gone broke after things i bought for this car, paints, styrenes, wiremesh, etc etc. cant be sanded easily, so art knife take part, then the sand papers. cant be smoothed out. ill update later. but good enough for me.

Very nice Spoon. I like your exhaust, what size tubing did you use?

Excellent paint, excellent CF and grill opening, excellent wheels, excellent exhaust, excellent car!
Did you use gloss red on the seats? I would suggest flat red for seats instead.
And good job with the spoon side mirrors. Fujimi made slots that can only fit stock mirrors. It required me to carefully shave the slot in order for the spoon mirrors to fit right.

This looks very nice. The carbon work is fantastic, so is you detail painting. Are you going to polish the clearcoat? That would do wonders for the already fantastic shine... but then, it's a dedicated race machine so one would expect it to be sort of dirty and, well, not so shiney. I love this build, and not just because I am a Spoon fanatic, but because your build is fantastic.

Some more photos.

::More interior photos as requested...

::wheel with badge - close up

::exhaust pipe. bronze and flat aluminium

for the seats, i think i use bright red tamiya spray. anything close enough to flat red on spray can?? cos i dont wanna hav any brush marks as the paint dry.... its quite noticable.

long time ago, i was using brush to paint the interior and the under-carriage. but.... those brush marks are very visible.... quite annoying. luckily, that was on my mini pajero kit (fujimi). so... yea, im tryin to use spray paint as much as i can. better results...

Re: [IN PROGRESS] Spoon Civic Type-R (EK9) !!56K's!!

I find that Testors actually makes absolutely great flat sprays. Where their gloss colors drip and run, their flat colors are just that. Perfectly flat. Don't abuse it though, you can always spray too much but you seem to be on it alright. If you want to just dull those down, get some Testors Dullcote. I swear by that stuff. It stinks like mad, and at first looks shiny as hell, but once it dries it turns matt as can be. That stuff is great. Your model is great! The only thing: a real Spoon car would have pulled up all the carpet... weight saving, you know.... Just kidding, looks incredible!
