Engine Tick

My 93 also has a tick in the engine only at times tho, like it first started whenever we changed the oil right after we got it, then it leaked pretty bad so i changed out the valve cover gasket, but still leaks, but i think the ticking could be lifters with heavy oil agaisnt em, cuz most of the time it stops after warmed up...is this a common problem with 1st gen eclispes? my friend also had a 93 and his did the same thing for a while...then stopped..so i dont know...
