vr-4 vs. acura integra

so this kid at my school has challanged me a few times to race, hes got a integra, 5 speed. now, i know that he cant be much of a problem for my vr-4, but is there anyting that he could have done, that would give me problems? he might have aftermarket headers, and a cold air intake, but other than that, he doesnt really stand a chance against me does he... p.s. hes been driving manual longer than i, but im not bad at it..

do youknow how to launch? i've encountered a few tegs that kept up with me one would have beat me if i wasn't upgraded. he could be spraying, or if its a typr with i/h/e it can run a 14.0 wich is about what you run. there are several things he could have done to be able to beat you, turbo. if youknow exactly what he has then it would be helpful

why is this guys VR-4 only running around a 14.0 flat....thats a very weak 1/4 mile time.....

I wouldnt be worried about it, if hes at your school, just walk up to the car, see if he has a boost gauge, no gauge, no turbo...unless hes stupid.

same thing with A/F gauge, one of those, might have juice...if he doesnt have one, and he has juice....stupid.

But you should, kill him off the line, AWD vs. FWD....FWD sucks off the line. Unless you really fuck up, and bog the shit out of it, and miss a gear or something, i really think you should have no problem whatsoever unless hes modded the hell out of it.

Re: vr-4 vs. acura integra

14 sec 1/4 mile back in the early 90's was a very good time. Look at the corvette they were slower than the VR4's back than the Camaro's werent even close to 14's back int the early 90's. All he has to do is get a boost controller and set the boost up and he would be runnign high 13's all day

Re: vr-4 vs. acura integra

listen i own a integra and i got alot of power coming outta it and i can take a vr4 but still unless hes on the bottle or has a s/c or turbo u can beat him cuz even with my gsr on bottle and turbo i run mid 10's but thats with alot of engine work too so im sure u can beat him if u cant go and get a boost controller and gauge and ur the psi up to like 14 and beat his ass

what kinda a shot do you have, because my friend dave has a full JDM front clip conversion and has a big ass T3T4 turbo on it, and every possible kind of engine modification and hes just now breaking 13's. Im not doubting you or calling BS or anything, im just saying he has donated about 20G's into that car from inside and out, and he aint in mid 10's. He is the only white guy in Houston on Team IKON and hes getting it his new AEM 5G's tuner tuned on his car right now, but still, 10's is fast man. how much time did you drop with your shot of juice, how big is it? Hows that traction situation?

for some retarded reason i was thinking he had the 1st gen.

and if your buddy has all that in his teg and is still only running 13's he needs more tuning. if it is simply a turbo kit and i/h/e then i understand but you said basically everything you can add. if that is correct he should be running lower times than that.

Re: vr-4 vs. acura integra

If you say he has light mods i bet he has the basic Honda stuff like Intake, High Flow Muffler doubt he has full exhaust and maybe clutch. You should be able to take him easy inless when u say light mod he has a turbo then you should be a bit worried. Turbo Tegs are a force to be reakon with

Re: vr-4 vs. acura integra

your asking an integra vs a VR-4? i mean come on, the vr-4 runs 13.5 stock with a good driver, the integra runs a 15.3 stock for the ls, and late 14s for the type R. i may be wrong on the tyre R, but the vr-4 should take the teg easily.... i had an integra ls for a while while my friend had a type R, the ls was fast, but not that fast, it had trouble catching up to an eclipse stock.. the type R is pretty fast but still is no match for a vr-4, running about 190 stock vs a 330? that's a big difference. even if he has a few mods, you still shouldn't have any concern unless your a horrible driver.. but you shouldn't be if you have a car as nice as you do..

Re: vr-4 vs. acura integra

The LS runs a 16.1, 16.9 if AUTO
The GS-R runs mid 15's and the R runs HIGH 14's.

But either way, with just bolt ons no Integra can touch a VR-4 in a straight line.

I will get back to you guys, i will ask him and see what all he has and hell, I know there is a picture of his engine bay on some site. I cant remember the link, ill send it to you later today. But all I know is he drove my VR-4, and he was used to his "beefy" integra, and if you could have seen the look on his face, he was in awe and pretty much upset that my car was so much faster than his, and that was when it was stock. I really would feel 95% safe on putting all my money on the VR-4, unless you really suck at driving ;-) lol, you'll kill him, just go do it

i really wouldnt worry about it too much, first off, kids who have their hondas and teggy's who have never been in a faster car think they're car is the fastest thing alive, why do you see these saturns running around like they are all fast and stuff. There's a turbo GSR integra with a big front mount intercooler that still couldnt even tie stock vr-4 times. If its not even a GSR, just piss and dont waste your gas. My sister used to have an LS, uhhmmm, yea

by the way, if you really want to make it embarassing, just throw on a proboost mbc ($18) and go to 14.5 psi, an open element filter ($25 from ebay), VDO boost gauge ($27 from summit racing), and gut your precats (free), and if you get a good launch, you'll be running high 12s

Re: vr-4 vs. acura integra

I wouldnt underestimate Turbo tegs. Espically if they got the lsvtec engine. This guy that lives in my town owns a 12 sec NA teg. It is awsome he's got the camelion paint and nice lil bodykit on it.
