New Prototype V6 Headers

Hello,

I have been working with a buddy of mine on prototyping a performance header for the V6. I finished the prototype last weekend and put the car on a dyno to see what kind of gains we got.

I was happy to see 10WHP gain and almost 1ft-lbs of torque, but the nicest thing was maintaining the peak torque number between 4000-5000RPM. On my base run without the headers the car peaked at 4000RPM and immediately started loosing torque.

The prototype car is a 2003 V6 with manual transmission and the only other mod on it is an AEM intake (I dynoed both the base run and headers with the AEM intake on the car). The headers are ceramic coated, I used 3/8" thick flanges, mandrel bends, MIG and TIG welding and a Magnaflow high-flow catalytic converter. I also had to extend the O2 sensor wires for the 2 sensors that plug in after the stock pre-cats. All 4 factory O2 sensors plug in to my system and we haven’t had any CEL problems yet. I had a tough time making this because it is so tight under the hood, but the system is a bolt-on header, doesn’t hit or rub anything like the AC, alternator or sway bars, and fits with the stock cat-back exhaust, as well as any aftermarket exhaust system currently being produced.
The car ran great on the Dyno and has been on the road for several days with no problems. The headers have a nice low tone sound, almost sounds like a domestic V8 car (no raspy Honda-like sound). I’m sure that it will sound even meaner in a couple of weeks once the Greddy cat-back is on the car.

Here are some pictures of the prototype headers and the dyno sheets: Headers

Any feedback from you guys would be appreciated, so please let me know what you think either here or by emailing my tibiheaders
