Stock external amp????

okay, I was checking out my 88 honda preludes system (stock) there is the tape deck, and then there is another black box that the tape deck plugs into. I am asuming that the speakers go into that. SO is that an external amp?

also, when I replace it with a cd player, will I leave that black box back there? or does that come out? I do plan to use wiring harnesses.

Re: Stock external amp????

It is probably a factory amp. My Tundra has one too. If you want you can take it out when you replace the headunit. Removing it seems like it will simplify the install of the aftermarket headunit.
