For what?

but my goal is to have a loud subwoofer, while keeping the best quality possible, im also thinking of a ported subwoofer box, instead of a sealed because it will be louder than the sealed and seriously speaking, not trying to be a nuisance or anything but i want it ALTEAST to be able to set off some car alarms, and if the type r in a ported isn't loud enough, is there anything else you can suggest to me? thx |

300-500rms isn't alot then huh im running 350 rms x 2 into two 12's right now, i think its pretty decent, except its sealed, im probably going to go with an alpine type R 12 in the alpine vented box, thx |

Re: Alpine Type R vs. Kicker Comp VR
It's all in the install I doubled the loudness if not more then double it with 2 audiobahn 12's... went from a shitty sealed enclosure to a slot ported one tuned to 28 hz. So yea if u install it right you can be louder then someone with twice the power. Another sub to check out is adire's shiva.

Re: Alpine Type R vs. Kicker Comp VR
www.acoustic-visions.com has it ready to ship for 125 shipping included. They HANDLE 650 rms thermally, but depending on your enclosure you probably will get the same output from less power. I've been contemplting getting a pair and have talked to adire for a while about them and one main point is that with the enclosure I have (2.8 cuft per sub tuned to 28hz) I would get full about from around 250 watts.

Re: Alpine Type R vs. Kicker Comp VR
Get a 15 inch L7. Proper box size. Probably as big as you can fit. And a 1000 watt Kicker amp. Or a 12 inch L7. If you want excess. Double it up if you can fit it. And probably run 1500-2500 to them. Kicker all the way bro. Get the 12 if you want better quality. I guess...
I got two 15 inch L7's in a 10 cubic foot box, ported, tuned to 33 hz. Severely, severely underpowered. I need a h/o alternator and a honkin Kicker amp. Battery or two... I got two Sony XM-D9001GTR's for amps :P. It's pretty loud I guess. Shakes a little bit... Anyways. There's my two cents. ... Something else. My buddy got this old... 360 watt amp that Kicker made. It has an 80A fuse hold in it though... What's up with that? Anyways. He also got these old Hollywood Excursions (Pretty decent subs) rated for 225 watt rms, per side. The amp at 1/4 volume is way too much for those subs. So we're running it at almost no gain. Pounds pretty good. Nothing excessive. Pretty impressive for what it is though. That's a big freakin 400 watt amp I tell ya... Sounds more like 800 watt. Atleast. But yeah... Bye! And good luck. |
