DOHC on a normally SOHC block

has anyone ever heard of swapping a DOHC head onto the normally SOHC F23a1 block? I like my car like it is for the most part and know it pretty well mechanically, but i want to add some hp and definately go DOHC i was thinking a head swap with a H23a1 but i dont really know the specifics to do such a thing. is it possible, plausible,practical? by messing with clyinder diameters and such could I pull it off? i want to do it cheaply ie. replacing just the head.

i was thinking about that but i think the DOHC head has different oil paths and stuff like that. Might not line up. Gaskets might be all different and so forth. Plus the DOHC head looks a lil wider than the SOHC head but the blocks are suppose to be almost the same since it is the same series so i dunno. U probably got this idea cuz the b-series head swaps yea? thats what i was thinking it from. The only reason why it works on b-series b/c they only have minor differences on their engine from displacement to vtec to manifolds to slight cam changes. real minor things.. engine wise. All b-series have DOHC heads so it is basically the same but F and H series have SOHC and DOHC heads... really different. Thats my 2 cents.

I came up with the idea because most companies will tend to use parts with relatively the same dimensions and only minor changes to save on production costs. hoping that maybe possible honda did this between the prelude and accord i thought the heads might be ale to be swapped out especially if the block is about the same. i am an mechanical engineering student and just started messing with my car for fun, and so far its all terribly simple to me. i'm looking to just make my car a little more responsive and the bolt on solution is a bunch of crap. i'm not one for faking the funk but don't want to do a complete engine swap, is there anywhere i can read up on the specs for doing that type of thing? does anyone know?

I'd really like some info on this also, but I have a feeling that an F20B (DOHC from SiR Accord) head would fit better than an H series. Of course, the displacement would still be a problem. We really need some dimensions on the heads before we can figure much else out.

I wonder what the possibilites are for putting an F20C (S2000) head on there?

why not just put the f20c motor in. 240hp and 15x lbs of torque plus hgh reving. to me that is a sh*t load of power compared to our f22s... 130hp 13x-14x lbs torque

isn't the f20c strictly rear wheel? not in my ballpark. and woudn't swapping heads just be a matter of oil lines and either porting or sleeving? and maybe a few minor issues. i want to hear more about this f20b any info?

parts needed:
h22a head
f22 block
f23 head gasket
3/4 inch bolts to plug up 2 drain holes.

it's been done and has nowhere near the cost of an h22 swap.

haha to me.. jsut turn the motor sideways, put on an F22 or H22 tranny to the f20c and bang! theres ur fwd car. Supposedly all F and H series are almost the same so im assuming one of those trannys will fit on an f20c. Not sure tho... never heard of it being done... so im probably wrong and it doesnt work... Just an idea tho for some rich person to attempt it and see if it works.
