ok im sure this is a repeat question and i apologize ahead of time before someone points it out to me but i dont really have much time to dable on the computer seeing as how i now work 12 hrs a day 6 days a week...but anyway i have a problem with my car reaching very high temps pretty easy especially now the warm weather is startin to come in...well i had a bad water pump and replaced it along w/ my coolant of course and i still seem to reach 220 almost constantly and this is just in the few mile commute to work every night and sometimes if driven longer gets to 240 before i park it....i know that my car a 91 rs w/ a 305 has a high runnin temp at 190 but come on 220-240 is when your fluids start to boil isnt it well i checked my radiator and dosent seem to have any noticeable blocks visually like bent strips but when its runnin hot and i pop my hood usually all my coolant is in the tank and it almost seems to be using none...i also run w/ my air on all the time just to get my fan to work which also has a new motor but only runs w/ my air for some reason but i still have the problem w/ it on....sorry for the length just tryin to explain the whole situation so i can get the best help through knowledge of my problem well like i said i dont have much free time so if u could private message me or email me a possible solution or problem u think it would be much easier for me to check each night...thanx sooooo much

Re: please help i luv my camaro

check you fluids in your radiator, also listen to your
water pump, usually if the bearing is out you can
hear it when you rev the motor. my 90 rs 305
done this, it was the thermostat. you need
a 195 thermostat for the 305, they are no more
than 6 bucks for the thermastat and new gasket.
you may want to pick up a jug of coolant while
your at the parts store some will run out when you change it.

ya i'd change the thermostat first. is the fan(s) coming on? might also have your radiator cap pressure tested, and you may want to blead the air out of the system from when you changed the coolant. i've also heard people talking about the air damn coming lose and blocking movement to the radiator

Re: please help i luv my camaro

check your lower air damn, if its not there, you overheat, the fan relay may be bad, the fan temp switch in the side of the block may be bad, obviously the motor is ok, cuz it turns on with teh AC. thermostat is a very good possibility. although i may point out that 220 is not high for these cars, 240 is pushing it, but still not an OH SHIT moment. corvette fans dont kick on till 216 degrees or higher. 223 on C5 corvettes. but in all honesty, if you dont have the time to check here, you dont have the time to work on it anyway, take it to the dealership.

yeah who was it, lotus(?), that had the overheating problem for like a month, changed everything, and it turned out his air dam fell off.

i have the same problem rite now... i put an oem bumper on and never go to installing the airdam/wind deflector thingy... i get temperatures of up to 220, but thats while standing, and it gets scarier when i turn it off, goes up to like 240... but if i turn the heater on it goes down to 185? wat the problem is?

Hi I think that I need a transmission mount. When I get on it it feels like something is slamming againest the floorborad of my car its a 95 Z28 camero. I love it. Someone told me it could be a tire bounce but I know its not that.. any ideas sillagirlll

probly should start a new thread for this, but yeah, i think your dead on with the tranny mount, its either that or a missing bushing in the rear suspention, and could be your front ball joints. my 89 iroc is doing the same thing right now. so im tryin to track down exactly where my problem is as well.
