stereo install 1998 toyota camry

I tried to install a stereo in my camry. But it has a 15 pin connector on back of the factory am/fm cassett. I bought a scosche car stereo connector and it won't work. The car has midrange speakers and I don't know if it makes it need a special adapter or not. Anyone who has put in a aftermarket stereo might be able to tell me what they used. Thank you.

Why won't the scosche connector work?

The stereo has a 15 pin connector. The scosche is 2 sets of plugs, one for front and power one for the rear speakers.

It sounds like you have the Toyota premium sound system. First trace the wire harness from the radio back into the dash. IT might be plugged into another box there and then you will find your correct wire harness coming out of that. IF that is not the case you will need to get a Toyota premium sound wire harness.
