Lightbulb H23 build up

Well I've been playing around with the idea of taking an old 100,000 plus mileage h23 and completly stripping it down and sleeving the cylinders put high performance cams and cam shafts and all the little internal goodies i can think of and boosting it. Give me some feed back.

Re: H23 build up

i've been thinking about it too.. but to boost is quite a bit of initial investment. i think you are better off buying a japanse h23 so you have a newer crankshaft and other internal parts that are expensive to come by new.

The first thing I did was create a spreadsheet with the projected numbers that I can expect to pay for everything. Fail to plan, plan to fail.

I would also look for reputable places to resleeve your block, as some shops do not do it so well, and you will get slippage.

Research, research and more research. All there is to it.

look on your engine block for the engine code, if you've got a usdm/jdm 92-96 prelude si, you've got an h23 engine

Re: H23 build up

I want to do it but some people say its a good idea, but most say it doesn't work that well. It sounds good in theory but in practice it is probably a different story. I'm probably just gonna go straight h23 (or h22 if I can afford it.)

Re: H23 build up

Yeah, that's right. In "theory" it would be the best thing. But in reality, you'll encounter more problems than you asked for. It's good on the track, but you'll probably be towing it there.

Re: H23 build up

Ive been thinkin of gettin the H23 and put in a performance cam. I just cant find any. If u can get a grind that is similar to vtec, just not as severe, u could have a good motor. Cuz thats all the vtec is, basicly a race spec cam w/ goodies
