A couple of weeks ago I purchased a new 2004 BMW 530i, and this is my first BMW ever.
I need a well experienced BMW owners advice on tire rotation and balancing... 1) Does anyone here take their Bimmer to the BMW expensive dealership for their tire services: i.e. with the tire rotation and balancing, and at my dealer here in Atlanta, GA the cost is $60.00+, a pop for each time it is to be done. (I thought this task would cost me 0 because it was to covered under the 4 yr/ 50,000 miles full service agreement? But the BMW service manager was quick to inform me that tire rotation and balancing, and alignment is not covered under the new BMW full service plan! Tell me, does it take an expert BMW mechanic at the BMW dealership to perform the simple task of tire rotation and balancing, or can the local tire shop that can do the very same thing a lot less expensive? If not, why? Now don't laugh too much at my question above, remember I am new at this Bimmer game and I want to save money, without reducing the quality of service. (I need to be saving my money for the high price prem. fuel ($2.09Gal), that goes in these things, jk LOL). But this BMW forum is great. I am learning much from you here at the forum, thanks and please respond back to me with your BMW knowledge and your opinion about my new 2004 BMW full service I now face dilemma. Email me at: [email protected] with your answer. Any advice you will have greatly appreciated on what tire service is the best for the BMW 5 series, and have a good day! Sincerely A new 2004 530i owner, Presley348

On average a dealership is going to be the most expensive place to have anykind of work done on your car. For simple things like an oil change tire rotations, brakes and ect... If you can't do it yourself take it to a neighborhood mechanic, I would recommend a tire shop that you can take the vehicle to and drop off for an afternoon so that the technicians aren't rushed to do the work faster than they should (Jiffy Lube, VIOC)
Just make sure if there are service checks in your owners manual that need to be signed to have them sign them. Trashed |

In my manual they do not recommend tire rotations i imagine it would be the same for 5 series. I was told do to the suspension geametry is different and tire sizes may be different from front and back. If you do i would do it yourself if you are able
