Major help with interior lighting!!!!

I have a 96 civic ex and for some odd reason all my interior lights went otu at once. I put a aftermarket deck in awhile ago so i understand that my dome lights won't work. What bothers me is that awhile after that everythign went out, all the lights in the tach, speedo, the temp controls EVERYTHING. Plus to piss me off this that much more they used to come on and off. After about 30 minutes of driving they would just pop on, and if you hit up by the gadges it would come one as well but its been about 2 months since they last worked. HELP ME PLEASE I'M A POOR HIGH SCHOOL THAT WENT THROUGH ALMOST EVERY THING IN AUTO SHOP AND STILL CAN'T FIND WHATS WRONG.

Well, first you can still have a dome light with an aftermarket install. You just need to connect the light to a different source.

You obviously made a bad connection and are probably burning some wires. It probably was intermittent before because the it would get hot, shut off, cool down and then come back on.

you should pull out the radio and get it checked out as soon as possible. I had a friend that did a bad radio install and it ruined the entire electrical system. Headlights, taillights and all.

yeah i say go back and check the radio install. if the wires get hot enough or shorten out and u can basically burn ur car down.

Did you make sure the kit wires were connected to the proper stock wires? You may need to get a volt tester and check the wires from the fuse box back. Start by testing the voltage at the end of the line. I.E. check the lights in the gauge cluster then go back to the switch. see if there is power through there.

It will be tedious, but that is probably your last resort if you wiring for the stereo is solid.
