I found that when I try accelarating past 3.5K RPM that the car stops accelarating even though the engine continues to rev, and I hear a SWISHhhh sound (like a blow off valve I imagine.) Any ideas to what could cause this? I bought the car used from a Mitsu dealer w/ warranty. 01 spyder GT 33K miles. IDK if this is some new feature for the 3g eclipse but my old 99 RS would rev much higher and never acted like this.
I've looked under the hood several times but no aftermarket parts as far as I can tell. thanks in advance for ANY advice. I'm waiting for feedback before spending my $ on a CAI just incase the clutch might need replacing (@ 33K!?! the last fool may have run this car hard )

It started about 33k for me too.. Isn't that wierd...? I can rev all the way up too 6000 and beyond out of gear, so maybe it is the clutch...I'm glad to have found someone witht the same prob...I had warranty when I took it in..I took it in like 3 time...Everytime it is documented....but they could never give me any answers...

hey! are VIN Numbers sequential..? what if ours are really close in order...? It could be a manufacture defect...That would be an awsome case...
Mine is 4A3Ae55H91E007080 |

Re: Clutch Problem? Swishhh sounds?! Check this
I just called Mits...They said Vins aren't in order...But the production date would be a factor..Mine was may 2000...so was brobably 20,000 eclipses.. that doesn't help really..
