50 dollar gift certificate to my local hobby store

Got this from my gf for my birthday. What should I get? A couple of models or quite a bit of some nice supplies? I currently am working on the revell Datsun 510, have a Volvo BTCC racing sedan sitting in the box in the closet, and an E21 BMW 323i C1 2.3 fujimi model on its way as we speak. This is not counting the extra 25-35 bucks Im going to add myself when I go there. What should I do? I never had this much for modeling. Of course I just got back into it almost a year ago.

Re: 50 dollar gift certificate to my local hobby store

Sorry, can't sell it. My family have had Volvo's since 1985. When I saw it I had to get it. My mom had a 1995 Volvo 850 GLT. Ive had it for a while to tell you the truth. Just never built it, yet. I have all the paints for it and everything. In fact its older than the Datsun 510 kit Im working on. It was sitting in a rooms closet at my moms house. I wish I could help you on where to find one though, it seems Tamiya stopped making them because I dont see them around anymore unless they are already made.

Naaaaa !!! Just kidding but what are your plans with it. Personally i think you would get much more satisfaction from the build if you do a street car with it. You know......lowered, tinted windows etc etc. I built the estate BTCC version as my very first model a couple of years ago, got tired of the "sicky" blue color and recently re-did it into a street version it looks much better for it too.
Looking forward to seeing some progress whichever way you decide to build it.

As soon as I saw it, that's exactly what popped into my head. A nice street version all the way. Since its been sittin for a while I told myself that would be the next kit Id be working on after the datsun. I know I requested if someone had pics on one and I got one response I cant remember if it was you that responded, though. Im going to go searching through here. If you are looking for another one you may find one by searching yahoo and getting a result on ebay.

Get supplies. You can always talk yourself into spending money on kits, but supplies are usually neglected. I'm speaking for myself here, but I imagine it's pretty universal. The wisdom I take with it is when you have free money like that, get something you want, but not something you'd spend your own money on.

Gotta $50 GC for X-mas myself. I spent it on tools, but thats what I wanted.
Something you want, but won't buy because of the price?

Re: 50 dollar gift certificate to my local hobby store

Well I went there and bought a pack of five exacto knives. I bought a PIAA Accord Vtec model, some tamiya smoke paint to tint windows, and the paints to do the JTCC Accord minus some colors that I wont use or already had. I'm going back tomorrow. Its kind of addicting, just buying the kits so you'll have them.
