Engine Swap Shifter Qeustion

Ok ive never had this cleared up yet, I have a 1995 honda civic ex, and im getting an engine swap a b18c type r, and I know id have to wait untill after the swap untill I could touch my engine or else it would be a waste of money, so two questions actually, one are there any parts that I cuold buy that would fit on my stock civic engine and would be able to fit on the b18c type r after the swap? And if I got a short shifter should I wait or would it be a waste of money or would the short shifter fit after the swap, and im getting a complete swap with new tranny with lsd.
