b16a head for ls/vtec

I want to find some prices for a b16a head for an ls/vtec setup. Does anyone know any good places to buy just a head for a motor? I know all of the good jdm swap sites, but I am looking for just the head and ecu. Is ebay the only route?

I don't know where you guys live, But there isn't a single junk/salvage yard in the entire state or Oregon that has a B16 or GSR head just laying around. Infact, I called them and they are all on back order. I would say your best bet is to go to a local performance type shop and order one, or go online.

if you were getting a harness and ecu anyways it wouldnt matter...insted of the b16 ecu and harness you would just opt for the p72

Actually ebay can be a great place to find such things, you just have to know what you are looking for. usually priced pretty good to. you can find b16a heads on ebay for $500 and up depending on how much has been done to it. One store that sells on ebay sells b16a heads straight from japan, with only 30k on them, and will do the oil tap for you for an additional fee, and will do other things, such as port and polish, 5 angle valve job, etc. The key to shopping on ebay is to know exactally what you want, and know someithing about the product. Just shop smart, if it is too good to be true, it probably is. I bought my 96 ls off of ebay last summer, and I just bought a 96 gsr off ebay this week, I go to pick it up this weekend. You can find good deals, you just need to know how to shop. But if you can find a shop near by that sells them for a good price, that could be easier.

But wouldnt that mean that if I went with the b16, I would not have to replace the harness....I would jsut have to wire up the vtec, wouldnt that be alot easier?

To my knowledge, the only thing OBD specific on the head are the injectors and distributor. Find an OBD-0 VTEC distributor, injectors, and ecu and you'll be set to go. You'll just have the wire the VTEC to the ecu.
