front differential ?

I changed the oil in the front diff. of my 97 Jeep grand cherokee limited, 4x4, 4.0 liter. Do they require the limited slip additive? How do you tell if you have a limited slip differential? I didn't think i had one so i just put gear oil in it.

The best way to check is lift the Jeep up so both wheels are off the ground, take the trans out of gear and spin one tire and look to see if the other tire is spinning the same way. If it is - that's limited slip, if it spins the other way it is open.
