Cluster?
I recently bought a 2001 gmc yukon slt. While driving, the instrument cluster flashes all warning lights then stops, doing this several times. Then, I lose gauge readings. The dealer says I need a new cluster, does this sound correct? What is the cluster and would this be easy to replace by myself?
I appreciate the advice. |

I can't tell you for certain if it needs replaced, but it is easy to do. He's refering to the instrument cluster, where all your gauges are. It's a one-piece electronic unit. Several places sell used instrument clusters for anywhere from $80-$300. Check Ebay, and maybe do a search on this forum for tons of info. To replace it, you simply pop off the dash bezel, remove 4 screws that hold the cluster in place, unclip the wiring harness from the back, and then reverse the process to install the new one. 15 minutes, tops.
