Slam when stopping

Now the truck has a new transmission and transfer case. When you stop at a light and the back drops down, i get this loud slam. Its noticable. Is it the axle, u-joints, or diferential?

you had better check for a loose tranny mount or a loose axle don't delay this is a bad thing.

Can't be a loose tranny mount because it was recently replaced. Plus it doesn't do it every stop.

chev's are also known for having the overdrive solenoid lock up and not release when coming to a stop. so when it hangs up it makes a clunking noise. just something else to check.

listen, there is one other thought. if your axle seals are leaking inside the brake drum, the brake will hang up or stick and then release. if this is happening you will see a dark fluid on the bottom of the drum underneath the truck.if it is bad enough it will even run down the inside of the tire. this fluid contaminates the brake linings and drum.

This also happens when i do brake stands, which i try to avoid now (except for the occasional rice). I have more pressing issues to deal with right away, like new rotors and shocks. Both original.

I have had this same problem with my !990 Chevy Silverado. how i fixed mine was removing the driveshaft. And packing some High Temp grease on the shaft of the transmission where the driveshgaft goes in. This is what the dealer had told me to do. As well as i used the same grease from the dealer. I'd imagine you can get it elsewhere but i'm just not sure which one youd want. Hope that can help ya. Also my rear end went out on my 1500. it's 2WD anyone have any idea what i could replace it with? my truck is lifted so i wanna get something a litle stronger but not expensive. Thanks. -Steven-

Dana axles if you have some money are your best bet. Even a junkyard. I just had a new tranny intstalled so its def a U-joint issue.

Now would mine be the axles or the gears? I am not to firmiliar with rear ends. ALl i know it when i drive it make a loud clunk and makes it unsafe to drive.(So it seems) I'm going to drain the fluid and check the gears when i get off work. I belive there is a dana 44 in there now. Problem is i belive when you go to a dana 60 or so the lugs jump up to 6 and 8. I need to stay at 5 so i wont have to change my rims. but if it comes down to being the best thing for my money i might have to just upgrade my axle to a dana 60 and replace my rims. Who knows. Well after taking the cover off. My gears are anihilated. My axle bearing went out then the bearings got everywhere and ruined my teeth. Now i need a new rear end. Does anyone have any idea on which would be the Best rear end to go with?

Make sure you stay with 3.73's.

But i am also running 35's on my truck. Therefore i was thinking about going with 4.10's. My gas milage right now is just crappy. I dunno. I found a rear end outta a 72 chevy pickup. Needs a little modification. I might just look around a little more.
