As you can see in my 'In progress...' list, i have the project to modifie the Lamborghini Jota from Fujimi in 1/20 into the real Jota. I have quit finished the body but i have one big problem... the wheels
I have no idea how to build them. So, if someone can help me by providing some idea's? I have upload a picture of the wheels and another one from the complete car. ![]() ![]() I'm ready to create a 3D file if needed

Re: Need your help to Create Wheels in 1/20
I'm wondering if that is a one-off Jota because it's the only one I've seen those style wheels on.

Jota wheels
Yes, there are special wheels for the Jota, different from the normal Miura and different from the SVR Miura's. In fact, the Jota made by all the major kit maker in the seventies and eighties is the Miura SVR. The SVR was made in 1975 on a request from a Japanese collector. He want a Jota look like, but this car (with a wing on the top of the roof) was only a Miura with a special body and BBS wheels. The real Jota has been destroyed in 1972 (if i weel remember) in a crash. The car i take in photo was a copy made by an english fanatic of the Miura. This copy is very closed from the real Jota excepted for the engine.
Just another point, if you look to the Miura SVR from Kyosho, in 1/18 or 1/43, there're not called Jota, but Miura SVR...

Re: Need your help to Create Wheels in 1/20
hi Urraco, we met some months ago about a strange 1/24 Fujimi "lexan body" Countach Gr.5, do u remember? Did you find that kit?
I am very curious about your works especially the 1/20 Jota (I think that also tires could be a problem for you as the original fujimi ones seem to me too thin....) and the 1/10 Stratos. Someone told me that this kit is more detailed than the Tamiya 1/12 Porsche RSR, is it true? |

Hi LAPO, yes i remember our discussion. I don't find the Fujimi Countach Gr. 5 in 1/24, it seem's to be a very rare kit... I'm always interest...
Concerning the Stratos, it's a very nice kit, i don't know if it's more detailled than the 1/12 Porsche, because i don't see this model, but what i can say is that the Stratos is a very fun model to build. The chassis is very detailled, for exemple, the seats can move from back to front, the command on the stering wheels column can move... there is the radio you can take away it's box... The safety belts are in rubber. All the suspensions are workable and the electric motor is included in the plastic motor box. I will take picture to show you this chassis. The kit is not finished because i have a lot of problems with the paint (two different color with the same can reference... and as the two parts are perfect i don't know if i will repaint the front or the back For the Jota tires, i think i will use the original Fujimi, you know the size are not so diferent from the original. I will put pictures of the body when i get back my camera.

Re: Need your help to Create Wheels in 1/20
I would start by looking for any set of rims with 15 thin spokes, even if they are in a smaller scale like 1:24. Turning them (slowly and gently) in a drill, you can sand the contour of the spokes like you would do on a lathe. Add some styrene behind the spokes, and file the curvature between each spoke. Add the center bit and file, then add the knock off. Then cut several diameters of tubing to increase the outside diameter of the rim to the correct 1:20 size, and add one inside for the extra contour (where the valve stem sticks out) add putty where needed, and sand to perfection. Not an easy task, but easier than scratchbuilding. I imagine the hardes part would be to make each spoke, so if you can find a wheel that'll do, you'll take a big chunk out of your work.

Re: Need your help to Create Wheels in 1/20
Aren't those Jota replicas called Miura SVJ, the ones officially retrofitted at the Lambo factory? I thought there was only one SVR, which can be identified by the top mounted wing. I believe the SVR was comissioned by a German collector, and was sold to Tomei Sports of Japan. (I believe it's still in Japan.)
Hasegawa is releasing the Jota in 1/24, so I'd bettter find some magazines on the Jota. As for the tires in 1/20, I'd suggest using race car tires, as the Jota tires were very fat from what I remember. There aren't many race cars in 1/20, but you might be able to find one on eBay. |
