from page two:

Price $20,630-24,560 (??????????????)
Vehicle layout Front engine, awd, 4 dr, 5 pass
Engine Turbo 2.0-liter I-4, 276-hp, DOHC, 4 valves/cyl
On-Sale in U.S. 4th quarter, 2002 (est) (YES!!!!!)
0-60 mph, sec 5.0 (est)

If that's the case, and they only de-tune to pass government restrictions (like the article says) we'll not have much work to do to get it back up to j-spec performance

Party on...

Thats right folks, Read the full article, but the best part is, Its PRICE STAMPED At a WHOPPINGLY LOW $20,630-$24,560, thats as expensive as the wrx and its puny 220-230 hp.

That meens were paying $88 per every HP, to get 276.

The wrx is at $110 per every HP, to get 220.

The Evo is definatly a better bang for your buck, and pound for pound, the EVO is King of the Ring.

if what motortrend says is true (and mitsu doesn't significantly change anything), I'll easily be able to afford the car and all the mods I can ask for!!!

Joy!

MT Article

The article did start out with the mention of PlayStation. Then they changed it when they got more info on the comming of the US Evo.

I dunno about $20-25,000 though. Sounds like so little money for such an amazing car. I am praying for $20-25,000, but I could see it costing 25+

i've heard it was gonna be $25k or more but if the dealer marks it up, it could go up to $30k or more. i can still afford it as long as its not more than $30k....

heres the link to the philly auto show thread about dealers i called and got info from (not very helpful i might add)

As long as they don't get greedy, they'll likely not charge more than 28500; more than that and they may miss their target audience. If they take to too much higher of a price range, they'll be comparably priced to low-end luxury sedans, which will miss the mark with many people who will be looking to features that this car may not have. If they price it right (26-28k), it'll be right on the range of people who can afford this car, and still make it expensive enough to make a nice profit. If they price it prohibitively high for their target market (us- 18-34 year old middle income folks, give or take), they won't sell enough, and may stop offering it. I just hope they remember that. Taking a smaller profit per unit, but selling more units, will make more money; basic rule of economics.

The sick TRUTH...

Its all about the Benjamin's, and how many people they can screw in the ass. It will have MSRP, then be marked up ungodly.
Damn Dealers.

it'll be marked up at first, but the dealers will come down. They always do.

Angry

How old is everyone here really??? Cause no one here has obviously seen a markup the size you guys are talking about for these cars...

You guys are talking about dealer markups...They said the same damn thing about the WRX. The WRX was marked up MAYBE $500-1k. They wanted to keep the car in the pockets of college kids and mid twenty's. So my point is...they aren't going to take the risk of putting the car into young adults (25+) who make big money. They want to compete with the STi which has already been established that they are targeting college kid demographic. Just like the M3 has been nicknamed "The poormans porsche." They wouldn't take the risk guys...BESIDES...if they don't bring over the AYC then right there is 2k off. I seriously hope they don't bring the AYC over...damn.

I'm sorry guys...but i SERIOUSLY doubt that that's an updated article of MT. It reads just the same. They MIGHT have one of those auto date updaters...Cause the specs haven't changed...and the price hasnt changed...The only real thing we can go off of is what the CEO of mitsu said.

the evo VII is 0-60 in 4.9 in japan, so if these stats are correct, the us safety changes shouldnt affect it all, and if so, barely anything. I doubt the dealers will mark it up that much but if the car costs 25 g's on that article, you can expect it to rise to up to 28 or even 30.

The other way to combat mark-ups is to refuse to pay it. The only way they get away with it is some fool is willing to throw money away to get the car. If we all just say sorry, I'm not paying more than MSRP then what choice do they have?

Of course, this view is in a optimistic world. Unfortunetly there is always someone who has the extra cash to throw away.
