Did the U.S. get screwed on the EVO?
it seems every where else gets a 6 speed, LSD, Center Diffurential the AYC and a buncha other crap we dont. Its rediculous the kind of "toned" down Evo we get and they still keep the price as high. Hell the Rs thats coming out doesnt even have ABS it may have LSD but no AYC or ABS. Itleast Subaru had enough respect to make sure the US market got a REAL STI instead of some juiced up Galant VR4 crap.

Re: Did the U.S. get screwed on the EVO?
Our Evo is still a pretty decent model. Despite it's power and equipment deficits compared to the JP model, it can still hang with the STi in most areas. With the Evo's lower price, you can buy one and have more than enough money for power mods to reach the STi's level. After that, the Evo will still have a handling advantage.
FYI, our Evo is more or less available in Europe now as the Evo VIII 260. The RS model Evos aren't available with AYC or ACD, no matter where you get them. The 'real' STi you're talking about is a bit of a compromise. Subaru was in such a hurry to upstage the Evo that they used the EJ25, a bigger motor with weaker internals, and heads that didn't flow as well as the EJ20's that everyone else got. It is also available with the DCCD(Driver Controlled Center Differential) that only JP and not Europe, get. This 'real' STi also comes somewhat stripped as well. So what's the problem with that? Subaru offers several other types of STis. There are the stripped-out, rally-ready RAs meant to compete with the Evo RS. There is also the Spec C, which has a power boost up to 335hp. Unfortunately, Subaru much painted themselves into a corner, because they've already given us most of the best they have to offer. They might be able to sell the Spec C here, but that's probably about it. All it can offer in stock form over our current STi is a bit more power. Mitsubishi, on the other hand, still has more powerful Evos up their sleeve. There are the Evo FQ300 and FQ330, which offer 300 and 330hp, respectively. The newest is the Evo MR. This version offers reduced weight from a an aluminium roof panel, optional BBS lightweight wheels, aluminium front door impact bars, and the Super AYC rear diff has been shaved a bit. The MR also features an upgraded suspension from Bilstein, and the engine has been tuned for more power. Speed magazine, from the publishers of Road & Track, tested an MR, and has already reached a 0-60mph of 4.3 secs, and a 1/4 mile ET of 12.9 secs...which is probably on par with an STi Spec C, if not better. The MR may come to US shores soon, with a projected price tag of ~$33k.

I wouldn't say screwed because atleast we finally got the EVO, hopefully later (If the EVO survives Mitsubishi's troubles) well get the same models as in Japan. But for now a low 13 second, awesome breaking, awesome handling, isn't too shabby.
