Re: Timing belt broke :(

well make sure none of the valves are bent, if they are you'll want to replace them.

I would take off the head. when your belt broke the belt it probable bent some valves. replacing the belt is just taking off the cover, loosen the tensioner, and making sure the cam is alligned with the crank then put on the belt. I would recomend a manual, it really helps. Besides it only like $17.

Yeah just put a jack under the motor to support it while you take off the mount.

Ill bet $ that you didnt bend any valves. I know of at least a dozen honda owners who have broken their timing belts, myself included, who have not bent any valves. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Re: Timing belt broke :(

It doesnt mean you bent your valves, but a lot of times it does bend some valves. It'd be smart to check while your car is out.

I recommend putting on the new timing belt, then doing a compression test.
My belt gave up the ghost while I was zooming down the freeway, but none of my valves were injured.
I hope you were lucky like that, too.

Mine broke four days ago! I got it towed to the shop, as I am no mechanic!
The mechanic told me that there were some valves that were bent.
The valves needed to be replaced and the heads neede to be machined. I said OK and to replace the water pump too. When I got my car back, it lacks power! When I press down on the gas the car hesistates and then pickups real slow. Then when I am driving, it losses power when I am going on an incline and then force to down shift. Could this be a timing issue? Can anyone help.
I have searched the net for help, but found no resolution, but found a real kwel site: http://crxsi.com/resources/repair/ch...belt/index.htm
were it shows a step by step how to change the timing belt / water pump.

I am taking my car back on friday! But, would like to know what is causing this problem. After all I got warranty on the repair that cost me $1,500.00.

Any help appreciated!
