96 sub won't start

My 96 suburban wont start after running fine and being parked in the garage. I have pressure at the fuel valve by the t.b. and spark on a timing light when cranking. What is next step? Somehow checking the injection system? Thankx for any help! Joel

Re: 96 sub won't start

I just sold my '96 (sniff), but had the same problem twice. Check the battery connection on the positive side. There are two main cables going to (+) terminal - I think one goes to the starter and the other towards the "brain". Anyway, one was corroded inside the coupling. Disconnect at the battery and look around were the two wires are connected. One of mine kept getting corroded until I sprayed an anticorrosion goo on it.

On my '96, the wire going towards the electronics was corroded, thus the starter would engage but the brain wouldn't function.

Thankx for the reply Red but I don't think the battery leads are my problem since I do have spark. I did check them and they looked good.Tried a little gas down the trottle body but still no go, just a fire or misfire every few cranks. Also checked rotor, thought it may have somehow slipped and got off time. I couldn't find a timing mark to check the timing, any suggestions? "96" 5.7 4x4 k1500 80k Replaced intake gaskets, cap and rotor, plugs, and fuel filter about 10k ago and ran great till this sudden no start situation. Help anybody? Thankx, Joel.

Re: 96 sub won't start

Hello check fo these problems,
1. Fuel not reaching the fuel injection unit. Check for clogged fuel filter or lines and defective fuel pump. Also make sure vent lines aren't clogged.
2. Defective oil pressure/fuel pump switch
3. LOW cylinder compression.
4. Valve clearances not properly adjusted.
5. dirty or clogged fuel injector.
I can tell you how to check for every problem that I have listed.
Thank you
Adam Forsythe
