Re: MotorTrend design contest

I will give it a go, But you have to do three views with one interior! and a detailed synopsis, which might be quite hard!

Re: MotorTrend design contest

I saw the results for this comp over the last few years, it is really high-end. I wouldn't recomend this comp for people over 18, because to put it to the point, they have no chance. Kids from ACCD and CCS enter to this, they're amazing. If you feel you've got the stuff for the 17< then go for it! It's a hard challenge to be recognized, because the actual presentation is KEY in getting noticed... You still have a LOT of time for the 2004 competition, so hone your skills!

Re: MotorTrend design contest

No, I meant over 18. There are some really good "kids" under 17, but there are more experienced guys that are 18 over. Imagine a kid who dropped out of the best Trans Desighn course in the world after 3 years, and submtted. He would kick your ass (if you were 19). There isn't anyone under 18 that has any sort of professional education, so they can't be as good as "Design Student" or "Design Professional" who are learning what to do everyday.

<17 has no experience, only self taught stuff.
>18 can have a lot of experience. Remember, over 18 goes up to 110. Ex-Pininfarina guys can enter.
Design Pro, well, good luck!
Design Student is always the best category. These guys have the best immaginations.

Just my pile of pennies.

PS does anyone know what the criteria is this year? Last year was a tuning car of 2020.

Re: MotorTrend design contest

Brand it your way? Wow does that mean I can make a Nike Sports car? I think I actually will. I'll enter...Nike sports car...

Anyway. This seems like a REALLY tough comp...Anyone else who thinks they've got what it takes should enter...

Re: MotorTrend design contest

PS does anyone know what the criteria is this year? Last year was a tuning car of 2020.

The criteria is to design a vehicle from a brand that does not currently participate in the automotive industry, like a reebok roadster, or an ipod wagon.

I understand what you are saying AnsisK, but my point is it could not hurt to do it. Worst case scenario is you never hear from them, you get some experience of documenting you ideas and expressing them to others, AND idea of what is required in design.

Oh I agree 100%. I'm just saying, if you're looking to win, there isn't much hope. It's great for the experience.

Haha, an iPod Wagon. Coincidently, I drew the "Apple iTruck" for a similar sketch group. Didn't have much Apple to it, just white and chrome along with round everything.
