Car shakes rapidly at speeds of 50 mph and up

hello i am having some problems with my car and i have done many things to try to fix it. At speeds of 50 mph it will shake. When i let up on the gas it stops shaking and when i accelerate the shaking stops. Whenever i am at the same speed for a period of time it will start shaking. I have replaced a control arm, right drive shaft and had a high speed balance done on the front tires. 550 dollars later it still does the same exact thing. I am wondering can anybody help me

What Year, Engine, etc?

Don't forget to replace your Fuel Filter.

When you replaced the control arm, did you replace the ball joint as well or the new control arm came in with a new ball joint?

Have you had the front end alligned? If that isn't the case, I agree with Slade, It sounds like a ball joint, or possibly a wheel bearing

I had a similar problem and it was my brake rotors. They are out of round and warped, buy some new ones and that will solve the problem. I would go ahead and change the pads while you are at it.

my 95 had similar problems but i just had to align the front end and it worked like a charm...i also bought new tires at the same time cuz the misalignment wore the old ones out

i had similar problems with my 94 g/a
whenever i would drive between 50 and 60 and slighty cut the wheel left or right the car would shake terribly, as long as i drove straight it was fine. i had new front struts and new mounts put on and it solved the problem, it wasn't to costly. Maybe that might help?

did you ever get this fixed. I have replaced tires, rotors, bushings, etc. and wheels. After 55 mph+ I get the same thing, it doesn't have anything to do with miss firing of spark plugs, but more suspension, balancing or something. When I hit these speeds my steering wheel and my dash starts bouncing like crazy. Please let me know if you have solved this problem because no mechanic can tell me what it is but I've fixed everything else... email if possible

still having issues??

Hey,
I dont know if you are still suffering from numb hands, but my 95 was seriously having the same issue. I recently had a 2300 mile move for school and new i wanted the situation fixed. Turned out I had a bent/warped rim. It was causing uneven wear, strut issues, as well as the shaking. I got a replacement rim and Abracadabra.....fixed. I had taken the car in with those rims for rotating and balancing probably 5 times before they figured it out...so, maybe ask them to take a closer look at that next time...might just be one bad rim.

another alternative is to just try and have the front rims mounted on the back, this may take the shake out of the steering wheel and put it in your seat, which is sort of a fix, cause it wont be as obvious, however your still going to be putting excess stress on various car parts.

hope this helps
