Question 1995 LT1 camaro 6-speed convertible oil pan removal

I have removed the exhaust, starter, oil filter and cooler, all of the oil pan bolts, the motor mount through bolts, and the air intake elbow. I have also jacked the engine up as far as it will go. The oil pan still will not come out at any crankshaft position. My Chilton's manual says it should. Please help! Ray

Re: oil pan removal - 98 LT1

Actually, it's my brothers car - he's the expert and will supply the symptom details after work today... we're not able to remove the oil pan from under the car and I thought I'd try this forum for help. Thanks for the quick response... he should be home in 3 hrs. ...

Re: oil pan removal - 98 LT1

It could be a 96 Camaro - I know it has the 350 and 6 speed manual transmission - it's a convertible... I thought he had mentioned it was a LT1 - he'll clear it all up when he gets home - regardless, looks like we're going to have to hoist the engine...

Re: oil pan removal - 98 LT1

yeah that was the first thing i noticed. but yeah, those oil pans are a bitch to get to. the front cross member gets in the way. so yeah, lifting it is probly your best bet.

Re: oil pan removal - 98 LT1

you might have to disconnect the oil pump pickup that sticks down into the pan, and pull it out with the pan.
