Does anyone know where the diode for the Air conditioning pump is on the 93 88? When I bought the car a few years ago it went out on my way home form the dealer. They repalced it. I am now having the same problem. My $14.00 manual doesn't give much informaiton.

Re: Re: 93 88 AC diode
Thank you very much. There seems to be several inches taped down there and I wanted to make sure before I started to take it all off.
Thanks again. Quote:

Re: Re: 93 88 AC diode
On mine the clutch wouldn't activate or hold in, causing the compressor not to run or run for very long. No compressor no cold air. Sometimes it has the same symptoms as low gas in the system. Right now my clutch won't activate at all, so I can't check the system for gas.

Re: 93 88 AC diode
Simply a diode acts as a one way valve allowing power to go to the clutch but due to the clutch being magnetic when you remove power you have collasping field that would generate a high voltage spike or surge and this may damage the computer and other electronics in the car.... So it's a protective device by not allowing the power surge to return down the power line from the clutch ......And a $1 diode is alot cheaper to fix then a computer, plus what's the worst you get a little warm ... It's better then walking in the sun ...
