oil pressure gauge

I have a 96 camaro with a v6. The problem I have is when I am driving the oil pressure gauge goes all the way up and while idling it reads 0. Is the problem with the sending unit? Were is the sending unit located on the engine?

should be on the crown of the connect point for the rear of the engine and the front of the transmission.

Re: oil pressure gauge

my brothers trans am done this, get it checked,
cause his car locked up. we thought that the
guage was messed up and the engine ceased
up last week. it was the oil pump, it went out.

Re: oil pressure gauge

um.... well the oil guage is a pretty simple thing, not really a sending unit, thats your fuel tank, but if that sensor is bad that could be causing it, but i agree, you should have the actuall pressure checked to make sure its not the oil pump.

Re: oil pressure gauge

YOu may want to invest in a engine lubrication system flush as well if the car has a crap load of miles on it. Really helps , Restores lots of things like power , cleaner emissions , Higher fuel pressure. Good stuff.
