How often do you use photoetched parts

I was just thinking. How many of you are using photoetched parts? When do you use it? Is the matter of model purpose (show car) or it's just with every model?
Thanks for your vote!

Re: How often do you use photoetched parts

I would use photoetch all the time... if I could find some more easily! I would ever like to build a completely photoetch-made model, if this existed!...

Seriously, mostly for small details. That means for race car kits and engine detailed kits... For a Tamiya Porsche Boxster, apart from the whipers, I don't see where I could use PE...

I use them on every single build, most times its only a PE licence plate frame, but on one of my current projects a Johan 62 Dodge Dart vert its gets PE, seat belts, throttle linkage, battery cables, and a bunch of other stuff

Re: How often do you use photoetched parts

Well thanks to the SAS brakes, it'll be on all models I build from now on. Photoetch brake discs look absolutely perfect. You just can't beat them with a wet noodle. You can't. I'm telling you, you can't. Why don't you beleive me!?!

Edit: I guess the real answer is "Where available." Which is most cars nowadays because of detail aftermarket parts.

Bought once, together with a Nissan 350z, only used half of them. Left the other "fiddly" bits out.

Later, Mike.

Ups. Sorry then.
Here; this are "metal" (I guess copper or aluminium) parts which are very detailed as you can see. You stick them over OEM part.

Re: How often do you use photoetched parts

Whenever there is a good set available for the models I'm making yes I will use them. I've even got two different sets lined up for single future projects

If nothing specific is available, like for my current Escort then one must make do. Even then generic things like seatbelt hardware and bonnet pins can be used.
