elec problems/clicking under the dash
Hey, I have a 99 Cherokee, my son backed it out of my driveway. Then turned it off. When he tried to start it again, it made a loud "Pop".I then tried to start it again a when I turned the key all the gauges went crazy. And you can hear a clicking sound near or under the dash. I disconnected the battery,,,let it sit,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,reconected the battery,,and still heard a clicking sound. It does not turn over. No lights or radio either..........Please Help......................John

Car won't start, guages go crazy, clicking starts
We have the same problem with our 99 JGC. The guy at our local dealership can't figure out the problem. Replaced the main computer but that didn't help. ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!

Re: elec problems/clicking under the dash
This same thing happened to me tonight. Ithink it may be ignition switch or wiring to it. It's odd all accesories work with the ignition switch turned back to acc, but nothing when turned forward except lights on dash flickering gauges pinging & radio turning on and off, I'll investigate tommarow and reply what I find....

Check your Battery connections and then your Maxi Fuses (The Big ones) also make sure you cycle the powerlocks with the key fob too.

Re: elec problems/clicking under the dash
Fixed it... Plates in the battery were shorted together... Replaced battery, runs great... For any one else with this problem I used a multimeter across the battery and turned on the headlights. The battery immediatley went to 7.2 Volts... In a phrase... Battery time....
