93 Mazda 626 transmission prob
Hey yol
I have this 1993 Mazda 626 ES, Its a V-6 2.5L Well anyways my problem is that when i start the car then drop it into drive the hold light will come on. The problem is that i cant shut off the hold with the button on the shifter. The problem with hold is that it wont let me got into 4th gear. Does anyone think there is a problem with my transmission or is it just a simple electric problem. Let me know what you think the problem is, thanks. |

True, the Mazda 626 has had infamous tranny problems...
This is the best website I've found for the 626 tranny problems. Read through it all, and it will save you a couple hundred at least. http://www.nabiki.com/sstalker/626.asp

Is there any other reasons why the hold light could be flashing such as electrical problems.

As far as what's common with 626's, not that I know of. I highly doubt it is an electrical problem, to tell you the truth.

Re: 93 Mazda 626 transmission prob
Take it to a shop that specializes in transmission repair and see what they have to say on the matter. It's most likely something will need to be replaced. You could change out the transmission yourself with a working one from another 626, but it's unknown how long THAT transmission will last.
Whichever way you go, add an aftermarket transmission cooling coil to vent off the excess heat these trannies make. It'll help keep your transmission from failing. Also try a fully synthetic tranny fluid.
