Cool Air Conditioner HELP

I have a 92' Old's Regency. I recharged the A.C. sys. but compressor does not kick in.I have a Haynes repair manual, and found the wireing diagram, but don't know where to find fuses and or relays. The main fuse block is numbered but that don't tell me jack. Any ideas or help will be greatly appreciated. I've worked on cars a long time but I've never messed with A.C.

Bypass the low pressure switch. Or, check it with a VOM. If the AC kicks on with the switch bypassed, then you have low pressure.

How did you charge the' AC. You know that it was a R12 system. You would have had to convert it. Also, do you have pressure gauge.

Re: Air Conditioner HELP

Try disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery for a minute see what that does.

I used interdynamics EZ CHill A/C Retrofitting & charging kit.( I even watched the instruction CD) At the start there was NO pressure in sys. whatsoever. Thanks for help. Will try both responses after work.

Re: Air Conditioner HELP

Did you use any leak detector? Did you fix the leak? If you had to refill the system, then there is a leak somewhere. You have to fix that leak. Otherwise, you'll keep running out of freon.

Here is a good article that I used when I fixed the AC on my stang. I knew where the leaks were first. On my stang, just about everything was bad. They sell red dye that can go into either R12 or R134a systems. They also sell the stuff that needs a inferred light. But, I like the regular red dye stuff. Just wash off that area after the dye appears.
