in the states, i'm assuming you're talking about the U.S., the 300zx! nissan second best car and can put out a good old 1000hp if tuned right with the V series engine. can beat a supra, a skyline, and a NSX. of course we're talking about how well you tune any of these cars.

Re: who's better honda/acura or nissan?

I don't even own a Nissan and I can tell you that they are better then anything Honda/Acura has produced. I own a Honda Civic which I am building up right now. I plan to use turbo and a bit of nitrous.

I chose to make my first project a Honda Civic because they are the easiest to modify and they have a ton of aftermarket parts available. However, more must be done to a Honda to make big horsepower. The internals have to be swapped out with stronger parts to withstand the high cylinder pressure. A lot of times this means replacing the rods, pistons, rings, bearings, etc. The block and head are both aluminum which are proned to warping under extreme temperatures. Also, if you have a Type-R or any of Hondas higher-end vehicles, you have to lower the compression if you plan to use boost.

The next hurdle is finding parts that actually make significant horsepower. A lot of aftermarket parts only make a few extra hp (5-10) unless its something like a turbo or nitrous.

The next hurdle is legality. Its a lot easier to pass smog with a vehicle with a car that came with a factory turbo, than a car that was originally N/A. I've read of people taking the 300ZX up to 700hp while maintaining smog legality.

As for the NSX, it pales in comparison to other cars in its price range like the Viper or one the more expensive Corvettes. For the price of one NSX I can buy a 350Z and two 300ZXs and still have money left to buy parts.

I do like Hondas. I like Nissans more though!

What's better, posting this topic here, or in the car comparison forum?
